" For the description and the management of archival documents"

ARCHI-LOG has been created to answer the needs of archivists using the canadian standard Rules for archival description - RAD - proposed by the Canadian Council of Archives (CCA).

This easy-to-use software is designed to let you input all the fields required for the description of the archival material (fonds or collections), with up to seven levels of description. All the punctuation between the fields is automatically generated by ARCHI-LOG which is also designed to alleviate considerably the burden of the presentation rules of RAD. The archivist can therefore concentrate on the content of his descriptions.

The archivist can print all the types of finding aids that he is used to: catalog, guide to the holdings, classification plan, numerical listing, inventory, etc., as well as complete statistics about the physical description of the fonds. Finding aids can also be published in the HTML format for distribution over a local network or over the INTERNET.

A conversion module manages the importation or exportation of data, thus facilitating the exchange of information with other softwares, with other users or with a union database. Another conversion module converts the data to the EAD format for international exchange. Furthermore, we can provide help in converting your existing archival data.

An indexation module, with an optionally used thesaurus, lets you rapidly create an index. An authority file can also be built.

A search module will let you instantly retrieve all archival units that respect different search criteria. Users can search in a combination of fields, using boolean operators if necessary. The date of creation can also be used as a criterion. The search result can be viewed or printed in a variety of formats.

Thanks to this indispensable and versatile tool that is ARCHI-LOG, the archivist can now fulfil in a more efficient manner his mandates for analysing and describing his archival material, and for publishing his finding aids.
